The picture above is a 1 inch by 3.5 inch UNIX server. It doesn't win the "World's Smallest Web Server" award because University of Massachusetts graduate student Hariharasubrahmanian Shrikumar holds that record pretty solidly with his amazing iPic Server.

However, unlike the tiny iPIC server, the system above runs UNIX (really a special microcontroller version of Linux) and includes the following hardware features:

• 16MHz 68EZ328 DragonBall Microcontroller
• 2Mb FLASH ROM and 8Mb DRAM
• 18 General Purpose I/O pins
• 10Base-T Ethernet
• RS-232 Serial
• High speed (1Mbit/sec) I2C or SPI 3 wire serial
• Can directly drive a monochrome LCD panel up to QVGA resolution (320x240)
• 3.3Volt low power device. When idle, draws only microamps.

So now that I have the server assembled and up and running, I have to decide what to do with it besides serve pictures of itself. The server will probably be down frequently while I'm soldering more stuff to it!
