Day 1, Arriving in Monaco Wednesday

Leaving home Tuesday morning for SFO International terminal, we catch a 10 hour flight to London, then another two hour flight to Nice, followed by a shuttle to Monaco, finally arriving about 5pm... on Wednesday (you lose a day due to the flight and 9 hour time difference).

Cars valet parked in front of the hotel. A lot of Ferraris in town.
The sweeping turn leading into the famous Swimming Pool complex (Piscine). Note that before and after racing events, the roads are reopened to the public. Refer to the Circuit Map for the location of this spot (betwen Tabac and La Rascasse). The Grand Prix cars enter this turn at 175 kph in fourth gear, sustaining almost 3G.
We stumble into the pits and what do we find but Michael Schumacher's Ferrari being checked over by the Stewards.
The Ferrari pits. The pit lane and garages at Monoco are tiny by modern F1 standards. The trucks have to squeeze onto nearby back streets. Mechanics hate this place.
This pictures shows the front straight and the pit exit (lights on the right and yellow lines on the street). The starting lights are on the bar that pivots out over the street (against the apartments in this picture).
A Sauber being pushed to the pits. I can't tell if this is Diniz's car or Mika Salo's car.
Two time world champion Mika Hakkinen's McClaren MP4-15 being pushing into the pits.
